Edwin Lavilla’s artistic odyssey is a vibrant mosaic, spanning from his Venezuelan birthplace to sunny South Florida, where his twin passions for visual arts and stage performance blossomed. His artistic training unfolded over four years, split between South Florida’s vibrant performing arts scene and Venezuela’s esteemed theatrical milieu, absorbing wisdom from renowned directors and actors. This rich apprenticeship propelled him into a pivotal role as a Theatre producer at Venezuela’s University of Arts, broadening his expertise into commercial theatre production.

Seeking adventure, Edwin ventured to Argentina, nurturing aspiring performers as a drama teacher. By 2013, he found himself in London, poised to join the City Academy Musical Theatre group, yet destiny nudged him towards a decade-long tenure in the veterinary field, intertwining his career with his compassion for animals.

The summer of 2023 marked a renaissance for Edwin as he embraced the persona of Dramala Tina, reigniting his performance ardor. Infused with the vibrant ethos of his Latin heritage, he ventured into the drag artistry, celebrating its inherent humour, cultural richness, and the indomitable spirit of influential women.

As Dramala Tina, Edwin embodies the synthesis of his diverse experiences, harmonising his theatrical foundations with the dynamic spectacle of drag. Each act is a tribute to his roots, weaving in the rhythms of Latin culture, a touch of humour, and an homage to the matriarchal figures who shaped his narrative. Edwin’s continuous evolution in the arts underscores the transformative power of embracing new passions, illustrating that creativity thrives on adaptation and the relentless pursuit of one’s passions.
