DIRECTOR STATEMENT
People with chronic illnesses like HIV often fall out of care due to persistent health disparities rooted in the historical exclusion and mistreatment of racial and ethnic minorities and LGBTQA+ communities. We must directly address and resist these ongoing disparities in order to challenge the failures of the current healthcare system.
The stories of patients at clinics like the Ponce Center are rarely seen. Through telling stories like this, we hope to create deeper connection and healing.
— Dr. Sara Pullen, Professor, Emory School of Medicine, Director, WHO–Emory Collaborating Centre
As a queer filmmaker, I aim to tell stories that uplift our most vulnerable communities. In light of recent events in the United States, transphobia and inadequate access to healthcare for trans and non binary people remain urgent issues. There has been a rise in new HIV cases and HIV related deaths. This story is more important now than ever.
