Judge Rules

From 20.01.2026

These guidelines outline the responsibilities, expectations, and values for all invited jury members of the One Fluid Night LGBTQIA+ Film Festival — London Edition 2026.

1. Eligibility:

Jury applications are open to individuals aged 18 and over from all countries and backgrounds who believe their experience and perspective qualify them to serve as a jury member.

Applicants should have at least two years of professional or practical experience in the creative industries and or active involvement in LGBTQIA+ community work, activism, advocacy, or public support initiatives. A diploma or academic degree alone is not considered sufficient.

OFN recognises that relevant experience can take many forms, including artistic practice, curation, criticism, community organising, education, or cultural contribution.

Jury selection is made at the sole discretion of OFN. Multiple factors are considered during the selection process, and decisions to accept or decline applications are final and not subject to explanation.

2. Responsibilities:

  • Watch and evaluate all films assigned to you.

  • Provide fair ratings and short comments for each film.

  • Assess films in relation to OFN’s values and programming focus.

  • All films must be watched in full before rating.

If you cannot commit to viewing all assigned films, please inform the OFN team as soon as possible.

3. Qualifications:

  • A genuine interest or background in film, media, or visual storytelling.

  • Reliability in meeting deadlines and completing evaluations.

  • Ability to share thoughtful feedback and engage critically with each film.

  • Understanding and alignment with OFN’s mission of visibility, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Preferred: connection or contribution to the LGBTQIA+ community.

4. Time-Commitment

For this London edition, the total viewing time will be between three and ten hours.
All jury participation is on a voluntary basis.

5. Confidentiality: All films, images, and materials related to the OFN Film Festival are strictly confidential. Jury members are prohibited from sharing, reproducing, or publicly discussing any content before the official festival announcement.

6. Viewing and Rating Responsibility:

Jurors will view all assigned films between 08 and 20 March 2026. During this period, jurors may be asked to indicate films for consideration across the festival’s award categories. Following the viewing period, the festival team will prepare the final voting materials based on jury nominations, after which judges will submit their final votes.

7. Consequences of Breach: Any jury member found violating confidentiality or showing bias or disrespect toward filmmakers will be immediately disqualified and removed from the judging process.

8. Organiser's Rights: The organiser, One Fluid Night (OFN) LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, reserves the right to revoke access to the judging materials at any time if necessary for security, integrity, or ethical reasons.

9. Respect and Inclusivity: Judges are expected to approach all films with respect and an open mind, particularly considering the diversity and inclusivity inherent in LGBTQIA+ cinema.

10. Feedback and Engagement: Judges are encouraged to provide constructive feedback and engage in discussions about the films, adhering to a standard of professionalism and courtesy.

These rules ensure a fair, respectful, and confidential process, aligning with the values and goals of the One Fluid Night LGBTQIA+ Film Festival.
