Harvey John is a London-based screenwriter & producer from North Yorkshire, England, who seeks to tell allegorical stories that tackle important social themes. Harvey was recently announced the Grand Prize Winner of Shore Script’s 2024 Spring Short Film Fund for his short film screenplay 'To Catch A Siren'.

His credits as a writer/producer include the coming-of-age feature film 'Sticky Toffee Pudding' (2020) and short films 'Swingers' (2021), 'The Girl and the Tide' (2022), and 'When The Party’s Over' (2024).

Additionally, Harvey was the Co-Producer on the feature film 'Mother Maker Lover Taker' (2024), and an Executive Producer on the feature film 'Breakwater' (2025) and the short films 'She Will Play On' (2025), 'A Little Bit of Light' (2025), and 'Show Me The Sounds' (2025).

In addition to filmmaking, Harvey is the founder of The Developing Room, a multi-award winning British production company with a focus on social issue coming of age films, and a creative network committed to helping young & emerging filmmakers break into the industry. Described as a safe space for new creatives to learn, grow, and mature as artists, The Developing Room runs a number of different initiatives from events and masterclasses to film financing, all specifically designed to nurture, support, and celebrate young and emerging talent.

Harvey joined the OFN team in August 2024 ahead of its fifth edition and is excited to help showcase and platform upcoming LGBTQIA+ filmmakers
