About the Story

Bones is a raw and emotionally resonant short film that dives into the psyche of Ren, a non-binary teenager grappling with their identity in the face of political hostility, internalized doubt, and generational misunderstanding. When a televised anti-trans speech triggers a spiral of painful memories and inner turmoil, Ren is forced to confront the voices, both real and imagined, that question their existence. Within this darkness, a powerful thread of familial love and self-affirmation begins to emerge. Through a surreal blend of memory, mindscape, and grounded reality, Bones becomes a defiant reflection on selfhood and the resilience of chosen truth.

The film offers a timely and intimate exploration of gender, acceptance, and the power of unconditional love, crafted to spark conversation and connection in a world still learning how to listen.
